Abigail Garlock manages the Cageless Birds Leather department and has been creating bags for over seven years. The Cageless Birds artist collective is a missional community of over 30 artists and creatives whose vision is to create beautiful handcrafted goods that help support the 18 inch Journey and A Place for the Heart.
With a history of pattern making and sewing in her family line, Abigail has inherited the values of beauty and excellence in her craftsmanship. She believes in making legacy pieces that carry history and story. If leather is a material that can last a lifetime, a well-made bag can be a legacy piece and container passed from one generation to the next.
With Cageless Birds Leather being part of the Commercial Division program at Tandy Leather, we have been able to have the unique experience of customizing our leather with tanneries and ordering specific leather that has been skived down to mold to the exact shape we are looking for in our designs. These services have been a bridge meeting our vision with quality leather that can bring our design dreams into reality.
