Oakland sisters Brianna and Ashley combine their love for leather and passion for helping others through their company Duck+Chick. By selling their handmade leather goods, they can raise money for nonprofit organizations. When they first started, they donated to Heifer International, which provides flocks of ducks and chicks to families in need. During the COVID pandemic, they donated over 7,000 meals through No Kid Hungry and raised money for local organizations like the Oakland Zoo.
Brianna and Ashley enjoy working with leather, and they have always loved the look and smell of their grandmothers' leather purses. Leatherworking has become a fun hobby for the girls, and they continue to challenge themselves to expand their skill sets. They began making leather bracelets, key chains, and coasters, and now they are learning how to sew. They recently made their first leather purse and are excited to make more.
Our kits make great gifts and are a perfect way to build your leatherworking skills. Kits are great for ingenuitive, creative kids who love to make things with their own two hands. They will learn how to decipher directions, problem solve and use critical thinking—at the same time, having fun creating a sustainable project.
